“Is This Love?” Campaign Hits Wirral Schools – Know Your Boundaries!

Valentine’s Day is coming up, and love is everywhere on social media. But real relationships? They can be confusing. That’s why HSIS Youth Workers are launching the “Is This Love?” campaign in schools and colleges across Wirral next week.

It’s all about helping young people like you have healthy relationships, set boundaries, and stay safe, no matter what you call your relationship, whether you’re talking, chatting, seeing someone, or whatever label you use.

Why Boundaries Matter

Even if your relationship isn’t “official,” boundaries are everything. They help you:

  • Know what you’re comfortable with

  • Say “no” and be respected

  • Protect your safety and wellbeing

  • Recognise respect and consent early on

Basically, putting yourself first isn’t selfish, it’s smart.

This Is a Big Deal Across the UK

Recently, schools across the UK have been stepping up to tackle misogyny and sexist behaviour in classrooms. Teachers say a lot of young people experience harmful comments and pressure in relationships, and national campaigns are making it clear: respect, consent, and healthy boundaries must come first.

That’s why the Is This Love? campaign matters. It gives you tools to recognise unhealthy behaviour, challenge myths, and build relationships that are safe and positive.

What Will Happen in Your School?

HSIS Youth Workers will run:

  • Short activities and workshops

  • Drop-in chats

  • Real-life discussions about relationships

You’ll learn how to spot red flags, communicate your boundaries, and put yourself first — all before any “official” labels even come into play.

Bottom Line

No matter what stage your relationship is at, or what you call it, healthy boundaries and self-respect are non-negotiable. Knowing what you want, what you’re comfortable with, and how to stay safe isn’t just important — it’s empowering.

So next time someone asks “Is this love?” — you’ll know how to answer it for yourself.
