Learning Disability Week 2026 - Do you see me?
Learning Disability Week 2026 takes place from 15–21 June. This year’s theme is “Do you see me?”.
What does “Do you see me?” mean?
It means making sure people with a learning disability are:
Seen
Heard
Included
Valued
People with a learning disability want to be treated fairly and be part of everyday life, just like everyone else.
What is a learning disability?
A learning disability means someone may need more time or support to learn new things.
But it does not stop someone from:
Having goals and dreams
Making friends
Learning new skills
Being part of their community
Some people are still not being seen
Even today, people with learning disabilities are not always treated fairly.
For example:
Many people want jobs but don’t get the chance
Some people feel lonely or left out
Some do not get heard when they speak up
This is why Learning Disability Week is so important—it helps people understand and make change.
How can you help?
You can make a big difference!
Be kind – treat everyone with respect
Listen – take time to hear people
Include others – invite people to join in
Speak up – challenge unfair behaviour
Small actions can make someone feel seen and valued.
Celebrate what people CAN do
Everyone has strengths.
Some people are great at:
Art
Music
Sports
Helping others
Learning Disability Week is about celebrating these strengths and breaking down barriers.
