Mental Health Matters and So Do You

2 hands passing a heart

Mental health is about how we think, feel, and cope with life. Everyone has mental health just like everyone has physical health.

Some days you might feel happy and confident. Other days you might feel:

  • Stressed

  • Sad

  • Worried

  • Overwhelmed

  • Unsure of yourself

This does not mean anything is wrong. It means you are human.

Mental Health Awareness Week (11–17 May 2026) reminds us that mental health is important and that small actions can help us feel better.

Life can feel hard sometimes. School pressure, friendships, family changes, and social media can all affect how you feel. Your mental health affects your sleep, energy, confidence, and how you see the world.

You deserve support, kindness, and time to look after yourself.

Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 is all about taking action – for yourself and for others.

Actions don’t have to be big to help.

Things you can do for yourself

  • Talk to someone you trust – you don’t need the perfect words

  • Try to sleep 8–9 hours so your body and brain can rest

  • Move your body – walking, dancing, stretching all count

  • Eat regular meals to give your brain fuel

  • Take breaks from screens if online pressures feel too much

Doing fun things like music, gaming, art, sports, or spending time with friends helps your brain recharge.

Things you can do for others

  • Check in on a friend who seems quiet

  • Sit with someone who feels left out

  • Be kind – small kindness really matters

If emotions start to feel too big to handle alone, reaching out is brave, not weak. You are never a problem for asking for help.

Mental health can change day by day – and that’s okay.
Every small action counts.
